Heat Pump

Renewable Energy From the Ground Up.

Heat PumpA cool way to stay warm…

A heat pump works by taking the heat from the ground. It doesn’t come from deep in the earth but from the natural heating of the surface by the sun. The result is that the top six metres of soil maintain a temperature equal to the average mean temperature of the air above – around 10 to 15 degrees in the UK. Once installed, the heat pump acts much like the coil in a refrigerator and is able to transfer warmth to a cool place and vice versa.

Just as importantly, a ground source heat pump is probably the cleanest form of energy you can use in your home. And, once it’s installed, costs nothing to maintain.

Savings of up to 70%  can be achieved on heating costs meaning your installation costs are recouped quickly.

Harnessing natural power with state-of-the-art technology

Sun & Earth Renewables will carry out a full site assessment and work out a heat loss calculation. Only then will we recommend the most appropriate design and size for your needs. Ground source heat pumps often work best when combined with another renewable energy solution, such as solar thermal system and could eliminate your reliance on traditional heating methods completely. We will be able to advise on the best solution after a site visit.
