Solar PV

How to Reduce Your Electricity Bills?

As electricity prices continue to rise year by year, more and more homeowners are installing solar PV systems to make their own electricity. In all but the biggest, most advanced systems, the electricity gained from solar panels isn’t able to provide all the electricity needs of the home or business owner, but the installation of a solar PV system can save you a huge amount of money over a single year. You will even be able to sell on any excess electricity to the national grid and will qualify for the government’s Feed In Tarff (FIT). So clearly the system could pay for itself within just a few years.

How does Solar PV work?

solar pv panelsSolar PV (photovoltaic) systems are designed to convert solar energy to electricity and are often confused with solar thermal systems, which although use similar arrays, are used specifically to heat water. However, it is possible to have both systems on your roof. Sun & Earth Renewable Ltd has the expertise to install both types of system, depending on your needs.

A PV cell consists of two or more layers of semi-conducting material, usually silicon. When these are exposed to light and electrical charge is generated which is then conducted away by direct current (DC) to an inverter where it is converted to alternating current (AC).

One of the best things about a solar PV system is that there no moving parts so after the initial outlay, they cost very little to maintain. Furthermore, it has the added benefit of generating electricity without any other emissions, so it really is a clean energy source.

The right advice for the right system

When it comes to your solar PV system, cost will depend on a number of factors such as the location of your solar panels, the amount of sunlight you receive in your area and how much electricity you want to generate. We will be happy to do a site survey and advise on the best most cost-effective solution for your needs.

Best of all, with the right system you may be able to sell any surplus electricity to your local electricity network, meaning you could actually profit from your solar PV system. Sun & Earth Renewables can even help with advice on the availability of installation grants.

Why pay more than you have to for your electricity?
